Why Bruce goes so fast
We have found it difficult to fit in any long rides lately and so have been doing laps of our old standy-by route -the Kew Boulevard. This is a favorite haunt for cyclists because it offers the following : 1. road riding 2. proximity to the city 3. minimal traffic and 4. .... a few hills ! Yes , the hills are a necessary form of masochism in our training regime. Each complete lap of the Boulevard is 14 km, which takes us around 35 mins (B) or more (K!) ... and longer if we stop for coffee at either Studley Park Boathouse, Fairfield Boathouse or even The Boulevard Restaurant.... yes - choice of three cafes - that is the real reason it is Bruce's favourite ride! .. and also the reason he goes so fast on the "Last lap before coffee".
